Docfound digitizes, archives, and distributes documentary films, thus affording long-term preservation
and greater accessibility. Docfound creates and hosts custom community portals featuring institutions' film
repositories, while celebrating "Documentary's Best of Show" with the annual peer-reviewed Young prize.

Docfound's Services
Docfound can quickly get an institution's film archive online by offering digitization, custom development of the Docfound
application, robust hosting solutions with redundant backups, and distribution tailored to any organization's needs, be it a
subscription model, pay-per-view, streaming media, rental, delivery on physical media, or any combination thereof.
1. Digitization: Working with experts in the field, the Docfound team can digitize traditional film and immortalize
the color
and sound on disks and DVDs, which can also be rendered as VHS and VCD for higher accessibility.
2. Custom Development: With the lead developer of the netjuke project aboard, as well as the leader of the Authena
project and
jollyroger.com, the Docfound team is capable of providing a full range of custom development catering to any organization's
archival needs.
3. Hosting: Docfound can provide secure, fully redundant hosting for archives of any size. Docfound has agreements
with
hosting facilities in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and California, and we'd be happy to discuss the options best suited to
your project.
4. Distribution: As Docfound works with more and more archives, it aims to become a major portal for scholars and
consumers
seeking access to documentaries for personal edification, institutional education, and entertainment.
Rationale For Open Source:
The Open Source movement has transcended the operating system and is spearheading a renaissance of Open Source content
management systems (CMS) and digital rights management (DRM). Docfound's online film archive, which would have once cost
millions of dollars and required a large team programmers, can now be accomplished for far less. Building a film archival
system and a robust ecommerce system capable of handling millions of products and transactions is now feasible for a small
programming team leveraging Open Source.
